Xander Mayang

Bass 2

Alexander Mayang is a rising star in the choir music field. He is one of the very few professional oktavists in the world, a low choir bass who can sing down to a Bb1 and below. Alexander’s vocal presence provides a rich and resonant foundation for choir ensembles of up to 100 singers, all by himself. Known for his low notes on social media, Alexander has amassed over 45 million likes and more than 850,000 followers on TikTok as XanderTheOktavist.

Alexander primarily sings as a guest artist for various ensembles in need of his deep notes below the bass staff. Recently, he has performed as a guest oktavist for the San Luis Obispo Master Chorale’s performance of Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil in 2024 and as a guest oktavist for Vox Obscura’s “Music of the All-Night Vigil” concert in 2025.

He is currently studying at La Sierra University to earn a BA in music education. Alexander Mayang’s hope is to instill in the hearts of new students the same love and passion for choir music that he has found in his own life. He also looks forward to singing low notes in the decades to come.
